5.Shot is fired at the steel. The force of the shot against the surface displaces dirt and scale, and also indents the steel creating a "rough" surface, approx. 70 microns deep. When paint is sprayed onto this clean abraded surface it adheres well and provides a longer life for the paint system.

Prefabrication primers can be applied, immediately after blast cleaning, to maintain the reactive blast cleaned surface in a rust free condition through the fabrication process until final painting can be undertaken.
